With more than 20 years of experience in the SMSF sector, Shelley Banton is recognised as one of Australia’s leading SMSF technical and compliance specialists. Drawing on extensive experience across SMSF audit, compliance and technical education, Shelley brings a unique risk-based perspective to the practical application of superannuation rules. Shelley is a committee member of the ATO SMSF Auditor's Professional Stakeholders' Group, a previous member of the SMSF Association National Conference Technical Committee, a current member of the SMSF Association's Technical Expert Panel and Co-Chairperson of the SMSF Association's Audit Discussion Group.

In 2025, she was appointed as a founding member to the SMSF Innovation Council, an industry-led forum to  make it easier for SMSFs to navigate the digital economy as it continues to evolve with clarity and compliance.
